How we work

Our mission is to build a transparent, ethical supply chain for coffee and cocoa: connecting buyers with quality beans directly from origin, and giving producers fair, lasting market access.

Where sustainability meets profitability

From origin to delivery

1. Sourcing at origin. Our team in Beni selects lots with partner farms and cooperatives in Kivu, and we work with established exporters in Burundi and Uganda.

2. Quality and preparation. Lots are sorted, graded and rebagged in 60 kg jute bags at origin. Samples are available before contract.

3. Traceability and EUDR. We collect origin and plot data for every lot, so buyers can complete their due diligence under the EU Deforestation Regulation, which applies from 30 December 2026.

4. Logistics and warehousing. We ship one to two containers every week, with warehouses in Beni (DRC), Kampala (Uganda), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Antwerp (Belgium) and Felixstowe (UK).

Who we work with. Roasters, importers, traders and cocoa processors looking for traceable African origins, from sample bags to full containers.

Sustainable farming with EcoSolve

Sustainability starts at the farm. At our coffee farm project near Bukavu in South Kivu (DRC), water recycling technology from EcoSolve plays a key role: water is collected, purified and reused on the farm.

This reduces pressure on local freshwater sources, supports healthier soils with less need for synthetic fertiliser, and makes the farm more resilient to dry spells. It is part of what makes MD Trade different: we do not only trade traceable coffee, we invest in how it is grown.

EcoSolve BV: water recycling for sustainable coffee farming
